The Design
Refined and delicately feminine, these earrings have pretty pink sapphire petals that form a hoop that hugs your earlobe. A lovely large South Sea cultured pearl drops below the blossoms. Both hoop and pearl are beautiful from every angle.
The Inspiration
“I have always loved hydrangeas and was struck by their overpowering presence around temples while I was in Japan on my honeymoon. The round shape of hydrangea blossoms reminds me of the moon and pearls do too. Women in Japan wear such beautiful pearls. I love the idea of combining both of these Japanese symbols into one very lush earring.” – Alexia Connellan
The Gems
Alexia hand selected this lovely matched pair of cream South Sea cultured pearls from Australia in a luxuriously large 14mm size. They have a rose luster that is perfectly complemented by the pastel pink sapphires and diamonds in the gem flowers that form the hoops.
The Craftsmanship
The floral pattern of the huggies was precisely modeled on a computer so the domed curve that extends all the way around to the back of the earring would be perfectly symmetrical. After being cast in 18k rose gold, the earrings were meticulously hand finished and hand set. Even the cap that holds the pearl was custom designed in the shape of a hydrangea flower.

The Inspiration Alexia interviews you to uncover what inspires you and makes you happy. You discuss gems, colors, shapes, and the feeling you want to have when you wear your jewel.
The Gem If you don’t already have a personal gem that you’d like to feature in your jewel, Alexia will search the world to find the perfect gem to realize your vision.
The Design Alexia sketches original designs for your jewel, refining the concept and execution until it suits you perfectly.
The Model The sketch then takes shape in three dimensions, either through computer modeling, traditional wax carving, or directly fabricated by hand into metal.
The Setting The final model is then precisely created in precious metal and the gems will be set into the metal by hand, one at a time. The metal is polished to perfection and your jewel is ready for you to wear.
